You may be wondering what a "Responsive" email is. Well, it's very similar to what a responsive website is. In short, a Responsive Email will
resize depending on the screen width of the user's device. This means that it doesn't matter what device you are viewing the email on, whether it's
a desktop, tablet or mobile, it will be readable with all the images and text automatically the right size for that particular device.
But what makes this so important?
If we go back to 2011 only 8% of emails were opened on mobile devices. This was rather a small percentage, but as of December 2015 that figure has now
risen to over 50%. That's a whopping half of the total number of emails that are opened on a mobile device!
Now this rate of growth can't continue forever, but it's a major part of your user base you should be thinking about. Going back to the question "What
makes this so important? The answer to this is that it can increase your click-through rate from mobile devices. That is the number of people clicking
on your email's calls to action and travelling through to your website because they can correctly view the email.
According to this blog post, your
click-through rate can increase by up to 15%. This in turn could encourage more customers to buy your product(s) / service(s).
So when you're thinking of sending out your next email campaign, just remember a Responsive Email may encourage better user engagement for your business.
