Siteglide: How to guide
How to login
You should all have already had invites to the system so just need to set a password.
How to login you need to go to admin.siteglide.com then you need to go to ‘all sites’ and click edit icon. Add me to user site. You can then just click edit and you will be into the ‘backend’ of the website.
How to edit a page
You need to go to CMS > Pages click on the relevant page you wish to edit. You will be first shown the ‘Page details’ which includes the ‘SEO Settings’ + ‘Open Graph Settings’. At the top the other two tabs are ‘Page builder’ & ‘Visual Editor’. Page Builder is for the coding front of the website, the visual editor is where you can see a copy of the website and edit the text.
How to upload images
To upload images there are a couple of ways this can be done. The main way is to go to CMS > File Manager. Select the relevant folder and then drag or click onto the box at the top and select the images you require to upload. Please try and avoid uploading to the root and try and select a relevant folder as it makes it cleaner and easier to navigate. You can create a folder by going to ‘+ Create folder’.
How to upload a blog
Blogs are similar to how they currently function, the Authors is a new feature but that should require you to touch it. You need to go to Modules > Blog > Add new blog item. So the ‘Item name’ is not the blog title, that is the ‘title’ field. Then you need to add the main image and list view image (most the time it will be the sea but it gives you the option to change them if you wish). The ’content’ field is the place to add the main body of your blog.
At the top their is a tab for ’SEO’ this includes the necessary title and description fields as well as OG fields.
How to edit web apps
Web Apps work exactly the same as they do on BC, the ‘standard fields’ only require the name field to be filled out. The ‘Custom field’ are the fields that we have added and would need you to fill out where possible. If suitable the SEO fields will be added by us there.
Content Holders
This is a significant change to BC, you can see the necessary tabs by going to ‘Site manager’. As you can see the header and footer have their own tabs which is great! But the ‘Head’ is kept under ‘Code snippets’. For the moment this can be only edited in the code view rather than a WYSIWYG. There might be other files in the ‘Code Snippets’ depending on the site and can be edited the same way but only in code.
URL Redirects
Very similar to BC, you go to CMS > URL Redirects, you can import them here and Siteglide will give you a template to follow. If you are just doing a couple then you can go to ‘Add new redirects’. The ‘Source URL’, again doest start with a ‘/’. The ‘Destination’ is then where yo choose the relevant section (usually page) and then find the link. If you unsure you can select ‘custom’ from the dropdown.
