Website Development

Summary

A website build with Website Success typically takes around 12 weeks, although this can vary based on the complexity of the site, the amount of content required and the overall objectives. More advanced features or bespoke requirements may extend the timeline, while simpler sites can often be completed more quickly.

Intro

Building a website is an exciting adventure, but how long does it actually take?...

The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some websites are simple and straightforward, while others are more detailed with more technical parts. That said, having a general idea of the process and the timeline can help you plan more effectively, avoid surprises, and feel confident at every stage of the journey.

How We Approach Timelines at Website Success

At Website Success, we know that no two projects are ever the same. Every business has different goals, audiences, and technical needs - which means we approach each website build with fresh eyes. That said, while every timeline is shaped around your specific requirements, we generally aim to complete most standard website projects within about 12 weeks. That gives us enough time to carefully plan, design, build, test, and launch your site without rushing any part of the process.

Of course, if your website has more complex features, like e-commerce functionality, member-only areas, or custom integrations it may take a bit longer to get everything just right. That’s completely normal, and we’ll always keep you updated so you know what to expect and when.

if you’re still in the early stages and wondering how to choose the right web development partner, we’ve got you covered. Here’s what to look for when picking a web development agency from expertise and training to post completion support.

A Quick Word from Our Studio Manager, Jon…

We always tailor timelines to fit what each of our clients need. While we do our best to stick to that 12-week goal, sometimes delays happen. Often, it’s because clients need more time to get us content or because the project scope changes (which is completely fine!). For example, if we need to rewrite content for the site or the client purchases a CRM that the website needs to connect to. We can do it, it’s just going to take us longer.

We can’t stress enough how important it is for us to take our time during the planning and website design stages. It might feel like it’s moving slowly at first but trust us - doing this properly pays off. A well-planned website means your visitors have a great experience, and your site actually supports your business goals.

Why Website Planning and Design Are So Important

Planning and design are the foundation of your whole website. This stage is where we:

  • Get clear on your business goals and how the website can help

  • Pinpoint the key messages that will connect with your audience

  • Create an easy-to-use site structure that’s simple to navigate

  • Design website visuals that truly reflect your brand

Rushing this part often leads to headaches down the road - like expensive redesigns or delays. Spending time here means the rest of the build goes smoothly, and the final site is something you’ll love.

What a Typical 12-Week Website Build Looks Like

Here’s a rough timeline to give you an idea of what happens and when:

  • 28th May – Project kickoff! Client questionnaire and internal briefing completed.

  • 30th May – Initial design meeting to discuss functionality, design, and business goals.

  • 14th June – Key messages and homepage content sent to you for approval.

  • 18th June – Sitemap (site structure and top-level pages) shared for sign-off. You begin sending inner page content.

  • 24th June – Homepage design reveal — you get a first look at the website design and layout.

  • 26th June – Homepage design approved; mobile version design begins.

  • 28th June – Our professional website developers will start building on the (Siteglide platform. We share the development link so you can track progress. Content upload begins as it's approved.

  • 10th July – Deadline to submit inner page content for editing. Inner page design sent for approval.

  • 16th July – Final approval of all revised inner page content.

  • 22nd July – Once the website is developed, internal testing begins at Website Success to check everything is working perfectly.

  • 26–29th July – You test the site and share any feedback or changes.

  • 29–30th July – Final tweaks and snagging complete.

  • 30th July – Final approval given — we're almost there!

  • 31st July – Launch day! Your new website goes live.

This example assumes that you’ll be supplying your own inner page content.
If you need help with that, we can absolutely take care of the content writing for you too. Just bear in mind it will add extra time to the project.

What to Expect Along the Way

  • Teamwork: You’ll be involved throughout, with regular updates and chances to give your thoughts, feelings and opinions.

  • Flexibility: Sometimes timelines shift if plans change — but we keep you in the loop the whole time.

Your Website Is Live - Now Let’s Make It Work for You

Launching your website is a huge milestone — but it’s only the beginning. A good-looking, well-functioning site is essential, but on its own, it won’t automatically bring in traffic or generate leads. To get real results, your site needs to be seen by the right people, at the right time.

That’s where marketing comes in.

If you’ve already partnered with us for SEO support, great news - we’ll have been laying the groundwork during the build, making sure your site is structured, optimised, and ready to rank. But if you haven’t thought about your marketing strategy yet, don’t worry - we can help you hit the ground running.

We offer a full range of post-launch marketing services to help drive traffic, boost visibility, and convert visitors into customers:

We’ll work with you to find the right mix based on your goals, budget, and audience - so your shiny new website becomes a powerful tool that delivers real results.
